I also teach cords for students to accompany themselves for popular music . Eg . Imagine by John Lennon .

Bio

Caroline trained in classical and jazz piano at the City of Leeds College of Music . She has a combined career in music and drama .
piano has been instrumental in being cast as Vi Petty in the West End musical BUDDY at the Victoria Palace where she played 1 st keyboards . Also Jail House Rock at The Piccadilly also 1 st keyboards . She played Cynthia Lennon at the Liverpool playhouse in Imagine , another actor musician role . Betty Barlow in the TV Christmas special featured singing at the piano she performed her own fully orchestrated show at the piano internationally on top cruise liners for 10 years . Now based on Hampton following a hand injury Caroline encourages budding pianists and believes you should enjoy what you are playing and develop strength and agility so you can fly with the music you love and express yourself .my website is www.carolinedennis.com. Teaching Info

Absolute beginners can expect to recognise the notes on the piano in a fun way , also to learn the tools to be able to read bass clef and treble clef . I do this by making reading a game by way of laying down the 5 lines across the floor and getting children or adults if they wish to step on the notes .
I have had excellent results by using the Schaum Green Book pre A for beginners because it prepares the students hands for economic finger placement. After the Schaum red book I move on to ABRSM grade 0ne . I believe in the importance of scales as they strengthen the fingers and arpeggios increase span and agility . They should be fun to play not a chore . They also help the student to identify key signatures as we move forward with the related grades . The JW Schaum booked can be ordered on Amazon . They are inexpensive. I can help with singing for beginners , using exercises from musical theatre and working on confidence and accuracy in pitch . I have helped my God daughters prepare songs for school performances and pass exams in musical theatre for children .
