Emily Loftus – Singing Teacher & Music Tutor

Hello! I’m Emily and I’m a Professional Soprano and Singing Teacher. I hold a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Music and teach all levels! If you’re at the start of your singing journey or already working professionally, I’m here to help you grow in confidence in your performance skills and singing technique.

As an Opera Singer I have worked for leading companies such as Welsh National Opera, Opera North, English National Opera and the Glyndebourne Festival. As a vocal teacher, I have over 8 years experience; I have had success with taking students through both the ABRSM and Trinity Laban exam syllabuses, as well as supporting those who wish to enter talent competitions (local or national). I pride myself on not only being a singing teacher, but also a performance coach – helping each student truly find their authentic voice. I have supported many students with the process of applying for Conservatoire or music degrees and have a passion for supporting students on this journey.

Teaching style: I believe in teaching in an active and diverse way. I believe any child or adult has musical potential, they simply need the right support and nurturing. As a classically trained soprano, I believe in the importance of body work, breathing exercises and vocal technique in order to achieve the greatest result. I tailor my lessons to the pupil’s specific needs, incorporating techniques such as; multi-sensory learning, Alexander Technique, Kodály and breathing and stretching exercises in order to assist the student’s vocal development. I believe singing should be freeing and fun, and therefore my techniques encompass this.
