Bio
Jack is a freelance musician and teacher originally from New Zealand now based in London. Since graduating from The University of Auckland with a BMus (Jazz Performance) in 2019 where he was awarded the KBB jazz trumpet player of the year award, he has made a name for himself as a versatile, in-demand trumpet player.
Jack was most recently the full-time trumpet player of Sir Dave Dobbyn and Flamingo Pier, who he toured extensively with across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, Canada, USA and Central America. Jack has also collaborated and performed alongside a variety of legendary acts including Katchafire, Avantdale Bowling Club, BENEE, Troy Kingi, 1814, Romi Wrights, Tijuana Cartel, Dub Pistols and Stan Walker to name a few. Jack is also a studio session trumpet player, having regularly recorded in top studios on various musical and commercial projects.
With close to a decade of teaching experience, Jack is well-seasoned in guiding students at various stages of their musical journeys.
Teaching Info
Lessons are catered to my student’s individual needs and aspirations, always with a focus on developing a solid technical foundation. I am very experienced in preparing students for performances, graded exams (Trinity, ABRSM), and University auditions. I can also teach jazz improvisation and theory to interested students.
Overall I believe learning the trumpet should be a fun and rewarding experience, and I make it a priority that students will come away from lessons feeling inspired and eager to improve.
