Bio

Hi, I’m Jenny and I have taught clarinet, saxophone, piano and music theory since 1990, both privately and as a peripatetic music teacher in schools throughout Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire. I teach adults and children, and believe it is never too late to start learning a musical instrument.

I studied clarinet, piano and composition at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff and obtained a graduate diploma.  

I have been the accompanist for Stroud Choral Society, Cirencester Choral Society and for music exams from beginner through to diploma standard.

I occasionally compose, with pieces published by Queen’s Temple Publications and Creighton’s Collection.  One of my compositions for bassoon was previously part of the ABRSM syllabus.

I have been the Musical Director for a number of amateur dramatic shows and also like to play in pit bands.

In 2015, I decided to try something different and trained as an adult nurse.  After nine years, I have realised that music is my passion, and so I have decided to return full time to teaching and performing.”

The material taught depends on the student’s abilities, wants and needs, whether playing for fun or wanting to take exams; I am guided by the student, while improving performance techniques.
