Bio

I am a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.

I have been  teaching for 25 years and enjoy preparing students for their exams as well as exploring the amazing violin repertoire together.

I  aim to help students realise their potential ability to express their musical ideas through the violin.

Teaching Info

From beginner to expert, everyone can always learn more about the violin, myself included! I like to take a very flexible approach in my lessons, responding to what I feel the student is needing at that time.

Exam preparation can be key to some students, and this needs more routine to cover all the different aspects. I have various technical games to help students feel more relaxed whilst playing, as tension is a major culprit in many issues. I use games and exercises to expand and develop their sound quality and technique.

Repertoire is completely expansive, I love teaching Bach, Mozart and the major concertos, but if a student comes with a new piece they have found or downloaded, then that would be great!

I love accompanying students at piano – I have my Grade 8, and find it really helps them feel the harmonies and pulse of the music.
