Bio

I have over 40 years experience teaching piano and theory to students of all ages and abilities.  I have a BA (Hons) degree in music, and the piano diplomas LRSM, Dip ABRSM and ALCM.  Many students have had considerable success in exams and local festivals – some I have taken from beginners through to Grade 8.  Some students have gone on to study music at higher education and have careers in music themselves.  DBS certificate.  I am a member of EPTA (European Piano Teachers Association).

Teaching Info

Learn to play the piano.  In doing this you will learn the language of music, including reading notes on the stave, rhythms and time signatures, musical terms.  You can get to know the great composers and their styles, and also play more modern pieces.  Learning the piano takes time, patience and practice, and enjoyment will come from being able to play a piece well.  Having a piano (or keyboard) at home is essential.  Ok Age 6 or 7 is a good age for a child to begin learning, and they will need the support and encouragement at home.  Students can enter exams and festivals if they wish, but this is entirely optional.
