Bio
I am a professional bassist based in South East London. I have been touring and performing across the country and the world for the last ten years, whilst teaching privately and in schools across London.
I have played with leading ensembles and groups in both Classical contexts and Jazz groups, as well playing bass guitar in rock bands and groups with a more pop style.
I have taught for London Music Services across different boroughs in Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as prestigious independant schools with a very high quality music department.
Teaching Info
I prefer to teach by encouraging the student to explore what it is that they are interested in. I can help someone work on something that they are finding difficult, or provide new directions for newer students. I will always make sure that the content of the lessons is relevant for the ability of the student, whilst introducing new techniques and harder content as the lessons progress.
I also have a large repertoire of teaching material that I can use to support the learning process of my students. This ranges from technical exercises to pieces, or to transcriptions and versions of popular songs in various abilities.
I encourage active listening in the lesson and outside as a key part of developing a musical ear.
Most importantly I have a relaxed and friendly style of teaching, as it is a much more pleasant and positive learning environment if everyone is having fun.
I prefer to travel to my students.
