Bio

I’m a performing musician, composer, and teacher with extensive experience teaching guitar and leading music groups. My lessons are pupil-led and shaped around each learner’s goals and interests. I work with students of all levels, including complete beginners and those picking up the guitar later in life. Whether you’re starting from scratch, returning after a break, or learning for the first time in retirement, lessons are paced to suit you and focused on making music enjoyable and rewarding from the very beginning.

I’ve found that classical guitar provides the best foundation for strong technique, musical understanding, and expressive playing—whatever your age, background, or preferred style. I use both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabi as core frameworks, offering clear progression and a wide range of material to support learners at every stage.

While following these syllabi, I expand the repertoire to include music that interests the learner and introduce styles such as fingerstyle guitar, bossa nova, and jazz that aren’t typically part of the classical curriculum.

Teaching Info

I’m a qualified teacher with nearly a decade of experience helping people develop their confidence and creativity. I’ve worked with hundreds of young people and adults, and I’m skilled at supporting students through specific challenges. Whether you have additional learning needs, struggle to focus, or feel you’ve hit a plateau, I’m here to support your growth. While most lessons take place in my home teaching space, I’m sometimes able to travel to the learner’s home, depending on location and availability—feel free to ask.
