Bio

Polly’s career as a mezzo-soprano includes working in opera, as a soloist with some of the most prestigious orchestras and conductors in the UK, singing oratorio and secular song, and working with world-class vocal ensembles including Exaudi and the BBC Singers. Polly has recorded over 60 film soundtracks, whilst also recording backing vocals for bands and artists such as Pulp, Take That and Faith Hill.

Polly has also worked in schools as a Director of Music for the last 9 years and has a huge amount of experience at tutoring for GCSE and A-Level.

Teaching Info

Polly has been working as a Singing Teacher since 2000.  She is well-versed in all aspects of vocal training, from the feet up. Polly uses classical ‘bel canto’ technique as her starting point, bringing in her knowledge of physical techniques to harness the voice and maintain good vocal health.  She also teaches jazz, pop and musical theatre.

She works with both amateur and professional singers and is able to tailor the repertoire choices to the individual. She can work with exam syllabi or develop specific styles of singing. She has coached singers for music college entrance auditions and also for concerts and operas.
