Bio

Roger is a professional musician and teacher living in London. He’s been playing music and working in the industry for about 30 years. After graduating from the Royal School of Music in 2002, he went on to complete some teaching courses and became a qualified music tutor.

Roger knows that teaching music requires a deep understanding of how different people learn. Every student is different, therefore every single student needs an absolutely customised educational method and plan. Along with teaching a technical understanding of the violin, Roger aims to impart a passion for music which will help students perform with confidence and ease.

Teaching Violin
Roger teaches violin from beginners to advanced students age 6 and up. He can also help students who are specifically preparing for ABRSM exams or other exam boards including Trinity.

Roger can teach:
– Tone
– Scales & technical exercises
– Correct posture
– Repertoire
– And more!
– Can follow Suzuki method if desired

Genres
Roger can teach a variety of genres but his speciality is classical music.

First Lesson
Before the first lesson, Roger aims to understand the student’s expectations and technical needs to create a unique personal method based on the facts. So the more information you can provide, the better and shorter path he can tailor for you.

Roger will ask you about your:
– Goals
– Motivations
– Skill level (if already playing)
– Repertoire (if already playing)

Don’t worry if your violin isn’t playable yet – Roger can help with tuning and setting up your instrument.

If you’re happy after the first lesson, we will agree on a regular date & time for lessons and set out a practice schedule to ensure that you achieve your goals.

*Please be aware that there may be additional fees for travel costs, and some commission fees will be added by this platform to your final booking fees associated with lessons.

So, what are you waiting for! Drop me a message and let’s get started guys!

Teaching Info

Material Taught:
Depending on the student’s level, we will work from recognized violin methods (e.g., Suzuki, Essential Elements, or traditional conservatory studies), solo pieces, orchestral excerpts, and technical studies by composers like Ševčík, Wohlfahrt, Kreutzer, and more advanced materials as progress allows. Repertoire is selected to be both pedagogically sound and engaging.

Teaching Style:
My teaching style is patient, goal-oriented, and adaptive. I believe in nurturing a love for music while also maintaining high standards. I provide clear, constructive feedback and encourage consistent practice, helping students develop not only skill but also confidence and self-discipline. Whether a student is preparing for exams, auditions, or playing for personal enjoyment, my aim is to guide their growth with professionalism and care.

Studying violin with [Your Name] has been truly transformative. Their patience, deep knowledge, and personalized approach helped me build a strong technical foundation while inspiring a true love for music. Every lesson leaves me motivated and excited to grow.
