Bio

Rohan Roy is an Indian fusion violinist based in London, with extensive experience as a performer, composer, and teacher. He has contributed as a soloist in over 50 Indian films, performed in more than 500 concerts nationally and internationally, and worked as a music composer for BBC Arts, Moonbug Entertainment (Cocomelon, Blippi), and RD Content. Rohan has performed alongside celebrated musicians and Bollywood artists, and toured across Europe and the United States.

He holds an MMus in Music Performance with Distinction from Kingston University (2020), Grade 8 ABRSM in Violin, and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Bristol, where he is developing a notational system for improvisation using Indian classical ornaments and techniques. He was awarded 1st Place at the London Fiddle Convention Contest and received the MMus Music Prize 2020.

Rohan has been teaching violin for over 10 years, training students at Havering Music School, Normanhurst School, Oaklands School, and The Oak-Tree Group of Schools. He prepares students for ABRSM and Trinity grade examinations, and has developed innovative approaches to teaching improvisation within the curriculum.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, age, and experience level. Whether you are a complete beginner, a child starting out, or an advanced player looking to refine your technique, lessons are structured to help you progress at your own pace.

Lessons cover: correct posture and healthy technique, tone production and bow control, music reading, ABRSM exam preparation, Western classical repertoire (Baroque to modern), Bollywood and film music, contemporary styles (rock, jazz), and improvisation for advanced students.

All lessons are taught one-to-one, ensuring full attention and a personalised approach. Online lessons are also available.
