Bio
Much of my musical career has been spent in Liverpool, and I’m now offering my music teaching services to people across London!
I started out in music playing in bands and producing creative and artistic electronic music. Since then I have never stopped being a musician and I know I always will be. I’m a multi-instrumentalist in drums, bass, guitar, keys and classical piano and I love them all, I regularly perform live and contribute to studio records. I love to get into theory and chords, and it’s a fundamental part of how I teach, even when teaching classically.
I have been teaching since 2019 before I left sixth form, and I have developed a unique and tailored approach for each of my students since. I put great importance on ensemble playing so my lessons are particularly ideal for students looking to learn multiple instruments or families with multiple members learning simultaneously. I am never shy to play with my students and we always end have a lot of fun achieving together.
Teaching Info
My teaching style is collaborative: we work together to build up a sense of musicality. Students who are passionate take a lot from my lessons, and develop valuable skills in all sorts of areas of musical life.
I work hard to build up confidence in my students, even when they are not naturally confident in their own abilities – I believe that this is one of the most important things a student can gain from music lessons. I use graded exams mostly to accelerate students’ confidence, with the exception of classical piano where it provides a necessary learning structure.
Music is a fascinating subject and I like to introduce my students to many different musical avenues they wouldn’t otherwise consider, as well as investigating their own musical interests.
Music can famously bring people together, and my lessons always encourage musical interaction. Whether this is playing with me in lessons or bringing students together, I always find it the most rewarding and exciting when students develop musical bonds with others.
I am mostly at home with paediatric teaching as I love to inspire people in the years where there is the most to learn. For classical piano students I can have a more mature teaching style, it always depends on the student.
I put a lot of effort into understanding the individual learning needs of a student. I find it particularly rewarding helping people with needs they may have previously seen as a barrier to reach their full potential, and finding ways of musically interacting with people who think in different ways. Everybody has a different way of learning, and I therefore have a unique approach to every student.
