Bio

I am an enthusiastic and experienced tutor who is not afraid to go beyond the curriculum. I have graduated from Oxford with a BA in Music and an MSt in Musicology, and have been teaching music, music theory, and various instruments privately for five years.

I specialise in using my academic musical knowledge to support students learning GCSE Music, A-Level Music, and ABRSM Music Theory. I offer tailored lessons and advice on musical appreciation, composition, and where necessary, performance.

I also leverage my experience in elite ensembles, including Magdalen College Choir and Thames Youth Orchestra, to deliver engaging singing and percussion lessons. I impress on each student the value of learning proper technique as a foundation for musical expression, and encourage them to find their unique voice.

Teaching Info

There is no formula for music lessons. Every student is unique, and the content of my lessons reflects this – rather than sticking to a set curriculum, I adapt my teaching to students’ interests to empower and engage them. I am familiar with all the major GCSE and A-Level curricula (Edexcel, AQA, WJEC, OCR), as well as ABRSM, Trinity and Rockschool instrumental syllabi. Lessons are usually an hour long, but I am able to offer some flexibility in timing.
