Bio
Welcome! Making music for me, is a rich and varied experience, and so I hope to inspire and enrich your experience of learning to play an instrument too. I am a classically trained and qualified piano teacher with over fifteen years’ teaching experience with a focus now on supporting adults (of all ages!) with their learning. I have studied the piano since the age of six, passing my grade 8 with distinction at the age of 18 and going on to train as a piano teacher with the ABRSM. I also write songs to a high competitive standard, and produce my own music from my home studio. I have studied and composed sonic art and music production at postgraduate level, I’ve sung jazz in a big band, and I continue to learn and grow as a musician and producer. Some standout memories are singing and playing the piano alongside ‘The Voice’ finalist Sally Barker, singing in Gaelic and playing alongside Patrick Devine-Wright of Riverdance fame, and playing my own songs backed up by a family of Gospel singers at a big music festival. So you see, my musical life has, and continues to be a wonderful unfolding, and pluralistic journey. As such, my lessons can include learning different musical styles, theory, improvisation and songwriting too, if you wish. I teach beginner to intermediate level adults and offer tailored lessons to suit your personal vision and goals. I’m happy to teach grades and have plenty of experience at that, although my main emphasis is on enjoyment and sustainability, so you can find pleasure in music, however that works best for you.
