Teaching Info

What will you learn?

At Slow Train Piano Lab you will learn how to play the piano by chords.  This is the method used by all keyboardists in contemporary bands.

We will teach you how to voice chords, starting with simple shapes and gradually evolving into more complex and beautiful harmonies.

We will show you how to use these chords to play your favourite songs, whether you enjoy pop, rock, country, blues, jazz or contemporary worship.

We will teach you scales and arpeggios and how to use these to great effect when improvising over your chords.

I've played piano for many years and consider my playing has become a bit predictable and, dare I say, boring. Now I feel I'm beginning to play 'in colour'. Not glorious technicolour yet, but I'm hopeful. Mark's experience, knowledge and manner are reassuring and encouraging.
- Gill
One of the best piano lessons in Nottingham I’ve ever had. I’ve tried many different piano teachers in Nottingham but none of them taught the chord style playing like Mark did. Really enjoyed it!
- Joe
Mark is very flexible and responsive to any of my feedback as to what I need more help with. He is patient and encouraging. Definitely recommend.
