Bio

I have been a working musician for over 40years, and an instrumental (plus classroom) music teacher for 35 of those.

Teaching Info

Lessons are structured around each student as an individual – on their learning style,  music they enjoy, and what they hope to achieve. Technique adapted to the relevant style.. other repertoire explored to broaden horizons. Exams, or performances (formal or informal), or audio recordings all a possible focus to encouraging regular practice, to making progress, building confidence, and giving a sense of achievement. But none of these things are a “given”, and “progress” does not have to be a linear thing. Musicality, aural skills, musical knowledge and understanding  (and communication)  inbuilt into each session, in addition to technique with the instrument. .

“Before the exam I was quite nervous, but once the exam was over I felt a sense of pride and like I’ve done something very good for myself! And Sue prepared me - she gave me excellent feedback and fun, realistic mocks so well that I just knew it was going to go well! If you think you’d like to do an exam, just go for it -if you enough work in you’ll smash it!”
