Previous roles at the Royal College of Music include Bayard Taylor in ‘Barnum’s Bird’ (Larson), covering La Théière in ‘L’Enfant et les Sortilèges’ (Ravel) and Il Buffone in ‘La Bella Dormente nel Bosco’ (Respighi), and singing in the chorus of ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ (Mozart), ‘L’Enfant et les Sortilèges’ and ‘La Bella Dormente nel Bosco’, whilst externally singing the role of ‘The Angel’ in a Tête-à-Tête production of ‘The Acts of Brizida Vaz’ (Gonçalves) and travelling to Jersey with Diva Opera to take part in a gala concert to raise funds for Blood Cancer UK.

Alongside a building operatic career, Tom has extensive experience on the solo concert platform, performing the ‘Messiah’ (Handel) with the Portsmouth Cathedral Choir, the ‘Mass in C Minor’ (Mozart) and ‘Nelson Mass’ (Haydn) with the Buckingham Choral Society, the ‘Nelson Mass’ with Sussex Voiceworks, ‘Paulus’ (Mendelssohn) with the Waltham Singers at Chelmsford Cathedral, and will be performing ‘Requiem in D Minor’ (Mozart) and the ‘Creation’ (Haydn) in the following few months. Tom has extensive chorus experience, performing in ‘Requiem’ (Verdi), the ‘Creation’, ‘Elijah’ (Mendelssohn), ‘Symphony No. 9’ (Beethoven), and the ‘St. John Passion (Bach) at St John’s, Smith Square. Alongside this, Tom has performed and toured with ‘The Facade Ensemble’ directed by Benedict Collins-Rice on their Holy Week Tour of London, Bury St. Edmunds and Ely and recorded a series of 3 albums at Alexandra Palace celebrating the works of Andrew Downes with the ‘Philharmonia Voices’ directed by Aidan Oliver and Ben Parry. Teaching Info

I’ve taught for nearly five years, working previously for Portsmouth Grammar School/Portsmouth Cathedral and the Tri-borough Music Hub (Hammersmith) as a teaching assistant, before recently building my solo studio more. I’m DBS checked and enjoy teaching students of all ages; it’s never too early or late to start exploring wonderful music and learning new skills. I’m keen to work flexibly with learners towards any goals they are pursuing. ABRSM and Trinity grades offer an excellent foundational knowledge, but some learners may prefer a more personal approach. I strongly believe learning the theory alongside good technique develops the ability to understand repertoire individually, enabling learners to explore the music they want to independently. I’m happy to offer a consultation lesson to further understand the learners goals and needs, and look forward to working alongside you.
