Bio
I’m Tommy, a songwriter, composer, teacher and multi instrumentalist living and working in East London. I’ve been a professional musician for 12 years working within jazz, pop and contemporary styles worldwide!
Teaching both privately and in groups has always been an important part of my musical life. Across instruments, styles and age groups my lessons are always intuitively moulded to the skills and desires of the student. I work to cultivate the personality of the student and not force them through agonising cookie cutter lessons. What’s more, I have practical experience from years of touring, composing and performing. The lessons will be rigorous, adventurous, fun and focussed on whatever inspires YOU to pick up your instrument.
Biography :
I am a founding member and assistant director of The London Vocal Project, the UK’s foremost jazz choir. With performances with Bobby McFerrin, Cleo Laine, Norma Winstone and concerts in London’s greatest venues including The Albert Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, The 606 and Ronnie Scott’s, LVP is at the forefront of modern vocal music.
As an instrumentalist and backing vocalist I have toured with Mumford and Sons, sung BVs for Florence and The Machine, recorded keyboards for the Kooks, whilst touring the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and Hong Kong on piano, double bass, vocals, bass guitar and acoustic guitar.
Whilst some of my songs and compositions for film are on spotify (and the rest!) much of my composition work has been for adverts and VR experiences online for clients as diverse as Warner Brothers, Angry Birds, Twitter and Audi.
I have helmed Song and Voice, an amateur choir for 6 years, taught classroom music at ICMP and conducted workshop series with LVP in disadvantaged London communities.
Songwriting is my current focus as a musical theatre composer and as a collaborator with new up and coming artists.
